Childhood Trauma processing

Trauma experienced during childhood or adolescence can have lasting effects on wellbeing. We provide a safe, supportive space to explore early experiences, process painful memories and rebuild trust, self-worth and emotional strength through consistent therapeutic care.

Emotional Regulation Skills

Managing strong or overwhelming emotions is an important part of recovery. We teach mindfulness, grounding techniques and practical coping strategies that improve awareness, reduce reactivity and help clients regain a sense of balance and control.

Guidance for Healing & Growth

With more than 20 years of experience, we provide trauma-informed counselling for individuals managing the effects of stress, PTSD or early-life trauma. Our approach combines psychodynamic and evidence-based therapies with empathy and collaboration, supporting clients to identify thoughts, feelings, and actions whilst strengthening resilience, safety and self-worth.

Each session is tailored to individual needs, helping clients process emotions, learn healthy coping mechanisms and experience long-term, sustainable ways of being.

We also explore how trauma may influence physical responses, thought patterns and relationship dynamics, guiding clients to recognise triggers and understand their nervous system responses in a safe, grounded way. Our work often includes stabilisation strategies, emotional regulation techniques and paced exploration to prevent overwhelm while supporting internal safety.

Clients are encouraged to strengthen their sense of agency and self-trust as they move through recovery at a pace that feels manageable. This can create a supportive framework for meaningful, sustainable healing over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is trauma counselling and how does it work?

Trauma counselling helps individuals process distressing or overwhelming experiences in a safe, supportive setting. A trauma-informed therapist uses evidence-based techniques to help regulate emotions, reduce symptoms like anxiety or hypervigilance and rebuild a sense of safety and control in daily life.

  • How do I know if trauma counselling is right for me?

If you’ve experienced events that continue to affect your thoughts, emotions or relationships, trauma counselling can help. You don’t need a formal diagnosis – therapy focuses on understanding your experiences, recognising triggers and developing healthier coping responses.

  • Can trauma counselling help with childhood or complex trauma?

Yes. Trauma counselling supports both single-event and complex trauma, including experiences from childhood. It helps you explore how early experiences influence your current wellbeing, guiding you toward healing, self-compassion and resilience through gradual, evidence-based approaches.
